Diagnostic Tests

Below is a list of tests available at our centre, please feel free to contact us if you require additional information. (Please note that some of these tests will require referral from your Naturopath.)

Live Blood/ Darkfield Microscopy

Live Blood/ Darkfield Microscopy is an evaluation method in which an individual may study their blood ‘live’. It is to date, one of the most valuable tools utilized in preventative medicine around the world. This method assists in viewing some of the main underlying causes that allow disease and illness to manifest within our bodies and it can do so before more conventional testing can even detect a problem.
Darkfield Microscopy can help to assess a wide variety of imbalances that could be disrupting your health such as: free radicals, digestive insufficiencies, food intolerances, bowel conditions, parasites and bacteria, candida and fungus, metals, chemicals, uric acid crystals, cholesterol crystals, mineral loss calcium leakage, adrenal stress and much more…

Electrodermal Screening

Electrodermal Screening is based on the energetic function of the meridian system. The meridians are energetic pathways which pass through tissues and organs (the same principals used in Chinese acupuncture). Research has proven that bioelectrical energy flows through each meridian to associated organs and systems adjusting and harmonizing their activity. During a bio-energetic assessment we can access these energy channels painlessly and non-invasively by measuring, with a probe (pencil like device) acupuncture points on the hands and feet. The measurements are displayed on a computer screen as the practitioner is testing, indicating the energetic level of the corresponding organs and systems. Once the evaluation is complete, we can then access an extensive database to consider thousands of items to help restore balance to your individual system.
The electrodermal screening device may be used to access organs and the functions of the body, for sensitivities and allergies (food or environmental), the presence of yeast/candida, viruses, vaccines, fungus, parasites, bacteria, the presence of heavy metals such as, mercury, lead, cadmium, platinum and more, nutritional imbalances, the quality of your teeth, dental conditions, and problems caused by mercury amalgams, and which specific products can be used to balance your system.

Environmental Sensitivity Testing

see Electrodermal Screening. We also use a lab called Metamatrix who is recognized internationally as a pioneer and leader in the development of metabolic, toxicant, and nutritional testing. The mission of Metametrix is to improve health worldwide by providing clinical laboratory tests that identify nutritional         imbalances and toxicities underlying chronic diseases.

Heavy Metal Assessment

There are several ways of assessing both excretion and storage of heavy metals. Acute metal poisoning is rare. More common, however, is a chronic, low-level exposure to toxic metals that can result in significant retention in the body that can be associated with a vast array of adverse health effects and not chronic disease. Toxic metals do not have any useful physiological function, adversely affect virtually every organ system and disrupt the homeostasis of nutrient elements. For more information please see your Naturopath.

Lyme Testing

Lyme’s Testing is an out-house blood sample test that detect the organism itself and, unlike antibody tests, antigen tests aren’t dependent upon a ‘sick’ immune system to produce antibodies. Central Florida Research’s antigen test is a one of a kind. It is a direct fluorescent antibody test using a special kind of technique called Flow Cytometry. This Flow Cytometer is a specific instrument designed to identify bacteria 50,000 events are counted in one minute and the number of bacteria reacting with the Borrelia burgdorferi fluorescent antibody are enumerated in a diluted blood specimen and reported as a percent. The Borrelia burgdorferi Direct Fluorescent Antibody by Flow Cytometer test is the most definitive test of its kind available today. Since Borrelia burgdorferi is a spirochete, an antigen test is more accurate in detecting its presence in the blood than a test detecting antibodies. The Flow Cytometry test from Central Florida Research is most beneficial in detecting Borrelia burgdorferi the causative agent for Lyme disease.

Food Allergy and Additives Testing

• IgG blood spot sent to lab for testing
• IgG blood serum sent to lab for testing

Caroll Food Intolerance Testing

Caroll Food Intolerance Testing is a test that utilizes a person’s blood to determine enzyme compatibility with particular food groups or combinations of foods. This is different from allergy testing, which determines antigen/antibody immune responses. The Carroll Food Intolerance testing bypasses vague allergy testing, getting to the root of the problem, which stems from improper digestion of a food or combination of foods. A small blood sample is necessary for this testing and is often obtained from the soft part of the ear lobe. This is a painless area and is utilized especially for children who rarely cry when the ear is quickly poked with a finger lancet to obtain the sample.

Saliva Hormone Testing

Saliva Hormone Testing is most useful for uncovering hormone imbalance. For example: discovering a woman has insufficient progesterone to balance high estradiol levels or; that high cortisol levels are interfering with the action of progesterone and testosterone. Once a hormone imbalance has been uncovered, nutritional or bio-identical hormone therapy can be instituted. Saliva testing can also be used to approximate whether hormone levels are too high or too low as a result of supplementation. Saliva collection is painless and more convenient for the patient, particularly when multiple samples are required.

Bioimpedance Analysis Testing

Bioimpedance Analysis Testing also known as Bio-electrical Impedance Analysis or BIA, is a widely-accepted method of measuring the ratio of body fat against lean muscle mass due to its simplicity, speed and noninvasive nature. A BIA helps to determine a realistic measure relating to your picture of health and well-being, and may help in planning goals for weight management or in achieving a better body balance for health improvement and prevention of illness.
Body Bioimpedance Analysis gives valuable information on cellular health, metabolism, toxicity to help create naturopathic, nutrition, or exercise programs suited to your individual needs. The following measurements are taken:
• Overall Cell Health (“Phase Angle”): This is a key indicator of your overall health. The higher the number, the healthier you are.
• Body Composition: Indicates the body’s percentage of fat and muscle. Important because the more body fat you have, the more inflammation you have – this is a significant risk factor for a number of diseases, especially heart disease, because inflammation stresses key parts of your body defense including your liver, immune system and adrenal glands.
• Metabolism: Indicates if your body is breaking down healthy or unhealthy tissue for energy. Obviously, the higher your metabolism, the less fat you have.
• Water inside/outside of cells: When your body has a high level of toxicity, there is more water outside your cells than inside them. Having more water outside of your cells dilutes the toxins and helps to make them less harmful to your body. However, this is not a healthy state to be in because the inside of your cells do not have enough water to function properly.
• Hydration: If your body is low on water, your metabolism slows. Problems resulting from dehydration include headaches, fatigue, and sweet cravings. It may surprise you that most people are chronically dehydrated because they do not drink enough water.

Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis

Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis is a sophisticated laboratory technique used in preventive medicine for assessing mineral imbalances and toxicities in the human body

Blood Chemistry Testing

This blood parameter testing is just like regular blood work. Doctors order basic blood chemistry tests to assess a wide range of conditions and the function of organs.

Comprehensive Stool Analysis (CDSA 2.0)

Comprehensive Stool Analysis is a test that evaluates digestion, absorption, gut flora, and the colonic environment, and is indicated for all chronic GI problems, for acute bowel pattern changes, and for many systemic diseases. Additionally, Genova offers a parasitology component with the CDSA 2.0 that evaluates for parasites using microscopic examination and EIA testing. The profile is indicated for all chronic GI problems, for acute bowel pattern changes, and for many systemic diseases and provides a sensitivity panel for treating pathogenic flora
